The northern section of Dartmouth includes residential areas, a correctional facility, parks, lakes, large commercial areas (with service providers, stores, and restaurants), a racetrack, a yacht club, a rehabilitation centre, accommodations, a movie theatre, schools, and churches.
Amongst the residential areas in the central section are the city's downtown area, a golf course, museums, commercial areas (restaurants, shops, service providers), parks, lakes, a library, a ferry terminal, schools, churches, a sportsplex, beach areas, a college campus, accommodations, and a power plant.
Dartmouth's southern section includes residential areas, an industrial park, two hospitals, schools, a college campus, a bowling alley, a provincial court building, an arena, parks, lakes, commercial areas, and an oil refinery facility.
Entertainment and Tourism
The Dartmouth Heritage Museum tells the story of the city's past and present through exhibits, artifacts, photographs, and events. Topics include the industrial, commercial, and social history of the area, and also changing exhibits such as historical maps of Dartmouth, an old photography studio, and a presentation about the 1917 Dartmouth explosion. Events held at the venue include afternoon teas, film screenings, and privategatherings. Two historic homes are part of the museum and include Evergreen House, built in 1867, and Quaker House, built in 1785.

There are some affordable condo options in this section, as well as more expensive, newer condo options located along the waterfront.
Single-family homes tend to be very affordable in the central section of the city, as are condo options. Most of the properties are older and somewhat smaller than the properties found in the northern section. Lot sizes tend to be smaller here, and vacant land is reasonably priced. There are also many commercial options in this section.
Newer, higher-priced homes can be found in the southern section of Dartmouth, as can affordable mobile home options. Lakefront properties come at a high price, and so does vacant land in this section. Large industrial commercial properties can be found in certain areas of this section as well.
